So I got a little paranoid when I got a text from Melanie saying she missed my kisses. I miss her’s too, but Sarah would kill me if she found out! I made up to Sarah by spending the day getting various chores done, including watching some chick-flick on Netflix that she had been dying to see with me. Somehow I was supposed to relate to it so that I would treat her better. Oh yes, I am supposed to remind Sarah every day how beautiful she is. Ok, fine, I get it….I need to be more attentive.
I have an evening shift tonight, so I get to sleep relatively early tonight! That means I have tomorrow to hang out! Cherise texted me that she was going to stop by and see me at work tonight. Luckily Angela and Ashley aren’t around. I was surprised because Cherise lived so far away, but she said that she was visiting some family nearby. I was somewhat distracted by the unexpected visit, but Cherise looked hot in her skinny jeans and boots. She came in just at the right time when I was going to get my late evening dinner. The other doctor was covering the department, so Cherise and I sneaked away and sat together. She wrapped her arm around me the whole way to the cafeteria which made me a little uneasy because I was at work and we were in the open. I like to stay ‘professional’ in that setting, as ludicrous as that sounds. We ate quickly as we caught up on everything. She has been hard at work with her classes and also in dealing with family-related issues. We ended up in a physician sleeping room because we kept getting interrupted by co-workers from other floors. I didn’t want my business out in the open, and I certainly didn’t want Ashley and Angela finding out from friends that I was with someone else, so we left the cafeteria to the hidden world of the doctor sleeping rooms.
Cherise seemed a bit distraught once we were in the room. It wasn’t long before I found out why…she needed some financial help. She was about to get evicted because she was behind on her payments. That was an easy fix as I wrote her a check to help her out. She was smiling tearfully and apologizing. I felt really bad for her. For my payment, she locked the door behind her, kicked off her boots and quickly undressed me as she pushed me onto the bed in the call room. Her barely-nineteen year-old butt looked incredible as she sat on me and faced away from me, grabbing my feet and burying her head on my legs as she slid up and down on me….
I was late in returning to the Emergency Department, but my partner was cool about it. I had to see Cherise off to her car, and that delayed me even more on my return to the department. It became real busy at work and it was hard for me to regain focus. I was a bit perplexed by Cherise, as sweet as she is, for something just seemed off. She seemed to have hysterical-looking eyes tonight, her pupils were so enlarged that I could barely see the green in her eyes…
The night dragged on. I spent a bit of time with a frequent alcoholic patient named Stan in the front room, listening to him tell me of his tragedies. He said he was a former Vietnam Vet who had run out of luck. He came in several times a week, complaining of various pains and aches, and each time he would tell us how he was dying. For some reason, I listened a bit more about his life tonight. He showed me a picture of his truck that he owned and drove for years. He told me of his ex-wife in Texas that he had cheated on and had left him. ‘She took everything out of the house while I was gone on the road,’ he told me woefully. Even his cat and two daughters left with her. Why? He had invited a young lady into the cabin of the truck, but for some reason, he sat on his phone and it dialed the house while the two had sex in his truck. His wife heard everything! I’m not certain that was the entire story, but he mentioned loss after loss in his life as his alcohol problem dragged him into a series of poor choices. As for drugs….never… He drew the line at alcohol, because it was less evil. At least he had his moral line-in-the-sand! I ended our interview with a hand-shake and sent him on his way. He seemed sadder than usual tonight. Maybe it was just a thoughtful-type drunk night he was having.
I was glad to get home tonight. The birds were chirping already at 5 A.M. as the horizon started lighting up in a glowing blue haze, anticipating the sun’s imminent arrival. I showered up as soon as I got into the house and slid quietly into bed next to Sarah, who barely moved. Home at last.
